The Government of Honduras

The government of  Honduras can be described as both Constitutional and Presidential Republic. The meaning is a government by or operating under an authoritative document (constitution) that sets forth the system of fundamental laws and principles that determines the nature, functions, and limits of that government. Also is a representative democracy in which the people's elected deputies (representatives), not the people themselves, vote on legislation. In the early 19th century, Napoleon's occupation of Spain led to the outbreak of revolts all across Spanish America. In New Spain, all of the fighting by those seeking independence was done in the center of that area from 1810 to 1821, what today is central Mexico. Although Honduras eventually adopted the name Republic of Honduras, the unionist ideal never wanted, and Honduras was one of the Central American countries that pushed hardest for the policy of regional unity. In 1850, Honduras attempted to build, with foreign assistance, an Inter-Oceanic Railroad from Trujillo to Tegucigalpa and then on to the Pacific Coast.

The current president of Honduras is  Juan Orlando Hernández, born in 1968, a lawyer by training, with a law degree from Honduras's national university and an MBA from the State University of New York, Mr. Hernández rose through the ranks of the Partido Nacional until he became President of Congress during Porfirio Lobo's term as President of the Republic. He seems like a very worthy man to be president. In the last presidential elections, Mr. Hernández managed to get nearly 37% of the votes - a clear 9% lead over his nearest rival. Mr. Hernández was sworn into his post as President of the Republic on the 27th of January of 2014. At the time of this writing, Mr. Hernández has been in office for approximately half a year only. So far, Mr. Hernández has shown more of a "hands on" attitude towards his role than other Presidents Honduras has had in recent years and that he is willing to work as hard while in his new job as when he was campaigning to obtain it.

Some current problems and issues that Honduras is encountering are, urban population expanding; deforestation results from logging and the clearing of land for agricultural purposes; further land degradation and soil erosion hastened by uncontrolled development and improper land use practices such as farming of marginal lands; mining activities polluting Lago de Yojoa (the country's largest source of fresh water), as well as several rivers and streams, with heavy metals. Also there are some places in Honduras that are extremely poor and should be helped because those people can barely afford any food and are looking for any way possible to earn money. I would not live any other place other than the United States because I believe they have the best government and there is a support system for those in need that is not even possible in other countries.
